Zika epidemic puts Rio Olympics' cancelation on the table

(MENAFN) There's a huge possibility that the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro might be cancelled on the back of Zika's outbreak throughout Brazil, according to the latest data.

Polluted water and security issues have already made things hard for anyone who wants to visit the country, now the Federative Republic is on the front line of the mosquito-borne Zika virus epidemic.

However, many athletes who are preparing to compete in Rio didn't feel a need to wait for a World Health Organization's advisory, but they've already started stocking up on bug spray.

Moreover, Zika virus is a member of the virus family Flaviviridae, transmitted by daytime-active Aedes mosquitoes, with its infections, known as Zika fever, often causing no or only mild symptoms.
