EU urges Pakistan to better exploit leather industry

(MENAFN) The European Union (EU) has pushed Pakistan's business community to expand their exports from textiles towards abandoned segments like value added leather.

The available data reveals that the leather sector is a vital division in Pakistan, due to the sheer size of its economic footprint, employment, and potential for value creation.

Additionally, the Islamic Republic's leather sector has a small share in the global trade of value added goods and products in spite the fact that it's an export earner.

However, the value added leather sector needs to seize the chance and further develop the segment to become an even greater export earner, following EU's recent incentives.
