GCC leather industry reaches USD 6bn


(MENAFN) GCC leather trade will increase, which was valued at USD 4.09bn in 2014, this figure involves the import and export of semi-finished and finished leather, accessories and others.

Moreover, global leather producers are training their sights on the Gulf area's USD 6bn leather industry, with many big names confirming their participation at the Middle East's trade.

The GCC is also a leather manufacturing hub, with USD 1.9bn worth of leather, luggage, handbags and footwear are produced in the Gulf region in 2014.

Additionally, almost 2,400 trade buyers from 66 nations passed through, while 86 exhibitors from 16 countries showcased their latest wares from hundreds of variations of animal hides.
