Qatar- Malaysian Deputy PM Launches Internal Security Policy


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kuala Lumpur February 06 (QNA) - Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi launched a comprehensive internal security policy which covers internal security public order and global terrorism threats.
Ahmad Zahid who is also the country's Home Minister said the aim of the Internal Security Policy (DKDN) was to keep Malaysia an independent sovereign and peaceful nation capable of defending its national interests Malaysia's national news agency (Bernama) reported.
"The objective of the DKDN is to ensure Malaysia's existence as a harmonious country with its national defence based on the principles of the Federal Constitution and Rukun Negara (National Principles).
"The DKDN is also based on democratic practices aimed at national unity sovereignty regional integration public order and political stability" he said when launching the DKDN book at a ceremony held for the Home Ministry 2016 Message on Friday.
Ahmad Zahid said the implementers of the DKDN were all enforcement agencies concerned with internal security and public order including the Home Ministry National Security Council Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Malaysian Armed Forces.
He said two committees would be set up to oversee the effectiveness of the DKDN including a high-level committee chaired by himself with members comprising the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and other relevant ministers.
The DKDN has eight strategic thrusts and 34 objectives including the protection and strengthening of key national institutions maintenance of border security protection of social cohesion and national defence as well as combating threats to public order. (QNA)
