Qatar- QC in deals to begin relief projects for Syrian refugees
DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has signed five agreements with Islamic Dawa Organisation and the Union of Relief and Development Associations in Lebanon to implement relief projects for the Syrian refugees in Lebanon at an estimated cost of QR5m divided equally between QC and Islamic Dawa Organisation.
The agreements are part of what the humanitarian Gulf Islamic and international organisations pledged on the sidelines of the fourth annual conference organised by the union and sponsored by QC in Istanbul. The forum aimed to mobilise support for the Syrian refugees.
The agreements were signed by Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari CEO QC; Hammad Abdulqader Al Sheikh General Director Islamic Dawa Organisation; and Hussam Al Ghali General Coordinator for the union in the presence of Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghamdi Executive Director International Development Mohammed Rashid Al Ka’bi Relief Head Board of Directors QC and Mohammed Adrdour Relief Affairs Expert QC. Al Kuwari said: “QC always makes sure to reinforce the spirit of cooperation and partnership among humanitarian organisations for the benefit of the displaced Syrians and refugees. I thank Islamic Dawa Organisation a strategic partner of QC and the union.”
Al Sheikh said Islamic Dawa Organisation is willing to sign more agreements with QC in different fields of humanitarian work. He thanked QC for sponsoring the conference and its commitment to release field reports to donors and financiers.
Al Ghali praised QC’s efforts for the benefit of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and the Lebanese. “If it were not for the support and contribution of its partners the union would not have been able to accomplish this much” he said.
The agreements aim to change the poor Lebanese families and Syrian refugees from consumers into producers through implementation of productive projects. The projects can be moved to Syria after the crisis is over so that they would contribute to its rebuilding. This will be done through ‘Sanad’ project which will help the neediest Syrian families in Lebanon bear the burdens of life.
Through ‘Rakezet Hayah’ project the families will enjoy some sort of stability; and through ‘Orphans Sponsorship’ project problems of orphan Syrians in Lebanon will be reduced. ‘Islamic Preachers Sponsorship’ project will help reduce psychological problems which arise due to asylum and help raise awareness through advanced methods. As for problems the Syrian refugees face when some of them die will be solved through ‘Waqf’ project through which a piece of land will be prepared to bury the dead.
