Dubai Smart City Offices Board of Directors holds second meeting


(MENAFNEditorial) UAE February 3 2016- The Board of Directors of Dubai Smart City Office (DSCO) has held its second meeting under the chairmanship of H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer Chairman of the Board. The meeting comes as part of the steps taken by the board to implement the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler Dubai for Dubai to become the smartest city in the world.

The meeting comes in the framework of the systematic efforts and steps made by the DSCO''s board of directors to ensure the continuity of work with all Dubai government establishments as one team with the aim of carrying on the journey of excellence and success foreseeing the future and supporting the emirate''s process of comprehensive smart development so as to achieve more accomplishments for Dubai to become the smartest and most innovative city in the world by 2017 in line with the leadership''s wise vision of harnessing modern technology to serve and bring happiness to its inhabitants and ensuring that Dubai becomes a role model of the connected and integrated smart city.

''In line with the orientations and aspirations of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai as well as his futuristic vision which seeks to delight people become among the leading pioneers and fulfill the requirements of the global competitiveness indices with a view to achieving the overall sustainable development in accordance with the world''s best standards we are working as one team with all government entities and seeking to forge partnerships with all public and private sectors in implementation of the general policies strategies initiatives and standards that support the goal for Dubai to become the smartest city in the world'' Al Tayer said.

''Dubai''s name is currently coupled with positive energy which is the prime engine behind the ability to achieve and make success in line with our prudent leadership''s ideology and keenness to encourage creativity and innovation. This prompts us to work diligently to make Dubai a role model for smart cities worldwide'' he added.

Al Tayer underlined the need to combine efforts in the upcoming period and focus on tracking the implementation of all the initiatives through the various performance indicators towards achieving H.H. Sheikh Mohammed''s vision for Dubai to become the smartest city in the world by 2017.

Meanwhile H.E. Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr Director General of DSCO outlined the progress of work related to the implementation of major decisions initiatives and projects including Dubai data project and Dubai smart platform noting the efforts of the various establishments to support this vital strategic orientation which would give an added value to both the public and private sectors in terms of providing various data through a unified platform.

''Dubai has turned into a remarkable global model in terms of the size of its unique and impressive achievements. Dubai has become not only a world-class financial and commercial hub that connects the world''s cultures and civilizations but also an example to follow in smart transformation at the global level in continuation of the march of excellence led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai'' she said.

During the meeting Wesam Al Abbas Lootah CEO of Dubai Smart Government Establishment (DSG) presented the organizational structure of all DSG sectors and the harmony of DSG strategy with DSCO. This consists of 4 major domains: connected services for businesses and individuals; enabling services for Dubai City; shared government apps and shared infrastructure for Dubai City and includes distinctive smart strategic projects to be carried out in 2016 and 2017. Lootah also mentioned the most important objectives and projects that have already come into effect. The strategy is aimed in its entirety at bringing happiness to corporate and individual customers and increasing their trust in smart services by reducing the time and time and cost thereby contributing effectively to Dubai''s transformation into the smartest city in the world.

The meeting also included a presentation by Younis Abdul Aziz Al Nasser Assistant Director General of DSCO on the progress of work of Dubai data project and the development made in all its phases.

The DSCO''s board also discussed a number of other relevant topics including the executive plans for all smart transformation initiatives and projects; achievements and workflow

The second meeting of the DSCO''s board was attended by the board members H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority; Colonel Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi Director General of Smart Services Department at Dubai Police; Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr Director General of DSCO; Mansour Bu Osaiba Deputy CEO of Nedaa; Mohammed Abdullah Al Zafeen Director of IT Department at Dubai Municipality; Abdullah Al Madani CEO of the RTA Corporate Technical Support Services Sector and Younis Abdul Aziz Al Nasser Assistant Director General of DSCO.
