First Kuwaiti officer graduates from NATO Defense College


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ROME Feb 5 (KUNA) -- Major Saud Al-Amer is the first Kuwaiti officer to graduate from the Senior Course of the NATO Defense College (NDC) on Friday.The graduation ceremony was attended by Mohammad Al-Hajeri the representative of Kuwait Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Sabah according to a statement by Kuwait Embassy.Maj. Al-Amer received a graduation diploma from the NDC Commandant Maj.-Gen. Janusz Bojarski.Al-Hajeri congratulated Maj. Al-Amer on the diploma and welcomed the growing cooperation between Kuwait and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the field of military education and training which started in 2010.He said that the College plans to open a training center in Kuwait the first of its kind in the Middle East.The plan to open the center under supervision of Kuwait National Security Bureau comes in recognition of Kuwait's leading role in regional and international security and stability he noted.The course is part of NATO's major educational outreach to Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) countries and partners from the broader region of the Middle East.It brought together 76 high-ranking military and civilian participants representing 31 countries from across the Atlantic Alliance and partner countries from a diverse geographical cultural and professional spectrum.Over the years the Course has welcomed participants from Partner countries such as Algeria Georgia Kuwait Mauritania Mongolia Morocco New Zealand Nigeria Pakistan Qatar Switzerland the former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia and the United Arab Emirates.
