Daimler's net profit soars to USD9.7b in 2015


(MENAFN) As sales of the company's luxury cars jumped despite a troubled global economy, Daimler AG, the German car and truck major producer has registered record profits for the previous year.

According to the available data, gross profit for 2015 went up to USD9.7 billion from USD8 billion in 2014, while income climbed to a whopping USD163.8 billion, with Mercedes-Benz sales topping the charts.

Daimler owns or has shares in a number of car, bus, truck and motorcycle brands including Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, Smart Automobile, Freightliner, as well as shares in the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

By unit sales, the automaker is the 13th-largest car manufacturer and 2nd-largest truck builder in the world, plus it makes buses and provides financial services through its Daimler Financial Services arm.
