Jordan- Cameron calls for new approach to Syria conflict


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) London Feb. 4 (Petra) -- British Prime Minister David Cameron has called for a "new approach" to tackle the Syrian humanitarian crisis at the opening of a donors' conference in London.

In his keynote speech at the day-long session which brings together the leaders of NGOs and more than seventy countries worldwide Cameron said Syria and its neighbors were facing "a critical shortfall that is fatally holding back our humanitarian efforts".

The one-day conference dubbed "Supporting Syria and the Region" is jointly hosted by UK Germany Norway Kuwait and the United Nations. It will discuss the world's largest humanitarian crisis which requires planning that goes beyond providing funds to seriously thinking of the reconstruction process.

The British government yesterday pledged $1.74 billion by 2020 for Syrians affected by the conflict in their country.
