Jordan- King British prime minister discuss Syrian crisis


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) London Feb 4 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday met with British Prime Minister David Cameron on the sidelines of the donors conference and stressed the importance of providing assistance to Jordan to enable it grapple with the repercussions of the Syrian crisis.

The King said that providing aid to the Kingdom will enable it to address the increasing burden resulting from the Syrian crisis.

He said the assistance which is expected to be announced during the conference will further support Jordan's developmental projects and contribute to developing infrastructure health education water and energy sectors.

At the meeting the King spoke about the situation in the Middle East mainly the Syrian crisis and voiced the importance of reaching a political solution that puts and end to the suffering of the Syrian people.

Talks also focused on efforts to counter terrorism in line with a holistic approach that would enable the world to address this phenomenon that threatens global security and stability.

Cameron emphasized his country's keenness to help Jordan to face the repercussions of the Syrian refugee crisis.

He said the conference provides an opportunity to assist Jordan and to stand by it due to the "difficult circumstances" arising from the Syrian refugees.

The meeting was attended by the Royal Court chief the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign and expatriate affairs director of the King's Office and Jordan's ambassador in London.
