(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development, has invited prospective students to its Graduate Open House at the HBKU Student Centre at 6pm on February 8.
During the Open House, there will be opportunities to attend sample lectures given by HBKU professors. The lectures will match the broad range of subjects currently offered at graduate level by HBKU.
The lectures will offer a valuable insight into student life at the university and will cover diverse topics such as food safety and outbreak investigation, how basic science can be used to combat the spread of disease, design and innovation's role in sustainability, role of translation in the modern world, constitutional law, and how computing changed people's lives.
The Graduate Open House will also share information about four of HBKU's newest planned programmes under its College of Science and Engineering: Doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering, and Master of Science degrees in Bioengineering, Cybersecurity, and Data Science and Engineering.
Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to preview the four innovative new programmes ahead of their official launch. The new programmes have been designed to respond to ongoing advances in science and technology and reflect local needs and global trends. Students enrolling in the programmes will be given the opportunity to work on crucial issues in their fields through either a research thesis or by working on an industrial project.
With HBKU's 2016 admissions deadline fast approaching, members of HBKU's admissions team will be on hand to offer advice and guidance to those interested in joining the university.
Dr Khaled Ben Letaief, provost of HBKU, commented: "In a relatively short period of time, we have attracted many world-class faculty to share their knowledge with our growing student body. By offering sample lectures at our next Graduate Open House, we are giving attendees a small glimpse of the work being done by our professors in educating tomorrow's leaders."
