Qatar- QA begins 4 weekly flights to Ras Al Khaimah
(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Airways’ senior management representatives and members of Civil Aviation and Airport authorities of Ras Al Khaimah celebrating the arrival of the airline’s inaugural flight in the emirate.
DOHA: Qatar Airways (QA) started non-stop service between Doha and Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday its fifth destination in the UAE.
Ras Al Khaimah is known to be a gateway to many of the UAE’s natural treasures popular for weekend getaways for travellers from the GCC and a resort destination for longer stays for travellers from China Europe and India.
The inaugural flight arrived with a QA delegation led by Chief Commercial Officer Dr Hugh Dunleavy.
The flight was officially welcomed by Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi Chairman Department of Civil Aviation Ras Al Khaimah; Mohammed Qazi CEO Ras Al Khaimah International Airport; and Haitham Mattar CEO Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.
QA’s Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said: “We are delighted to launch our newest route in the UAE — Ras Al Khaimah.
“QA’s network expansion will increase the flexibility and choice for our passengers to travel to and from emirates in the UAE and we look forward to enhancing passengers’ travel opportunities from Europe Asia and the Americas to new tourist destinations in the region such as Ras Al Khaimah.”
Ras Al Khaimah is in the northern part of the UAE about 45 minutes from Dubai. With the opening of many five-star beach resorts and spas the emirate has quickly become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.
It offers a wide range of activities such as water sports cruises desert camps golf courses and mountain adventures.
QA now offers up to 200 weekly flights from Doha to the UAE including the new four flights to Ras Al Khaimah: 105 a week to Dubai International Airport; 28 a week to Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport; 42 a week to Abu Dhabi; and 21 flights a week to Sharjah.
An Airbus A320 operates the Ras Al Khaimah route featuring 144 seats in a two-class configuration of 12 in Business Class and 132 in Economy.
The Doha-Ras Al Khaimah four-weekly operation: Tuesday Thursday Friday and Saturday: Departs Doha QR1120 at 20:15 and arrives in Ras Al Khaimah at 22:30; departs Ras Al Khaimah QR1121 at 23:30 and arrives in Doha at 23:45.
Qatar Airways ‘exclusive airline’ of HBL Pakistan Super League

DOHA: Qatar Airways (QA) has announced a long-term partnership with HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) as the official exclusive airline of the tournament which is emerging as one of the most exciting cricket events in the region.
The inaugural season of the league featuring key Pakistani and international cricketers will take place in Dubai and Sharjah from today until February 23.
HBL PSL featuring five teams of current and former Pakistani cricketing stars and highly skilled and popular international players is one of the sport’s most awaited global tournaments.
After years of planning and the launch this month the tournament which follows the popular T20 format brings excitement to a sport followed by millions of fans around the world.
QA Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said the association with HBL PSL is a great opportunity to align the passion for travel with the passion for sport. “We are excited about our association with HBL Pakistan Super League. QA has always championed the connectivity of sport and sporting achievement. In sport we learn to play and win together and travel can also teach us and inspire us to achieve together. This partnership aligns QA’s vision to go places together with our passengers and to be a part of their journey” he added.
The partnership is the latest in a series of key sponsorships for QA building on its mission to reach new fans through the power and passion of sport. Other partnerships include FC Barcelona Al Ahli Football Club Qatar Open Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships and IPTL among others. The partnership with PSL also aligns with Qatar’s vision in its commitment to promote sports globally and in the region.
QA operates flights to seven destinations across Pakistan non-stop from its Doha hub Hamad International Airport — double daily flights to Karachi Lahore and Islamabad three flights a week to Multan and Faisalabad four flights a week to Sialkot and daily flights to Peshawar. Karachi was first launched by the airline in 1995 Peshawar in 1998 Lahore in 1999 Islamabad in 2004 and Multan Faisalabad and Sialkot last year.

The opening game will be preceded by an opening ceremony with performances by Ali Zafar and Sean Paul.
