Qatar- Waste Management and Recycling Summit opens

DOHA: The sixth edition of Waste Management and Recycling Summit opened yesterday at Intercontinental Doha The City.

Organised by Nispana the two-day event was inaugurated by Engineer Hamad Lahdan Al Mohannadi Vice-Chairman Central Municipal Council and Safar Mubarak Al Shafi Director General Cleanliness Project Ministry of Municipality and Environment along with Dr R Seetharaman CEO Doha Bank; Narendra Kumar Managing Director Nispana Innovative Platforms; and Engineer Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi Manager Quality and Safety Department Public Works Authority (Ashghal).

Narendra Kumar stressed that the forum will provide the required clarity and highlight the importance of waste management and recycling in Qatar.

Among the highlights of yesterday’s summit were presentations on ‘Waste Management Strategy for the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning’ by Al Shafi; ‘Surplus Excavated Material Recycling in Ashghal Projects’ by Al Emadi; and ‘Use of Nano technology to manufacture affordable housing and irrigation products from rubber’.

The opening day also featured a panel discussion on ‘Waste to Energy not a luxury a necessity’.

Other presentations included ‘Green Banking and Sustainability’; ‘Microplastics in Marine Environment’; ‘Solid Waste Classification and Management in Kahramaa’; and ‘Reduction of Carbon Dioxide Waste Emissions’.

Participants included government entities research institutes international waste management experts health safety experts environment consultants and recycling firms.

The event also features an exhibition showcasing products of Green Energy and Environmental Services Co Bee’ah Al Danah Medical Company Matachana Heliovis and ATM Recycling systems.

The summit is supported by the ministry and Ashghal and researched and organised by Nispana Innovative Platforms.
