Morocco Adopts Measures to Face Football Hooliganism


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) – The Moroccan government on Wednesday announced a series of preventive and punitive measures to face football hooliganism.

The government has adopted a comprehensive strategy to put an end to the repeated vandalism and violent acts in football games the ministries of Interior and Justice and Liberties said in a joint statement following meetings held on February 2-3 between different parties concerned.

These measures provide for banning fans involved in violent acts to attend football games and fans traveling in groups to attend games outside their districts if these trips represent threat to public order and rigorously enforcing the Royal Moroccan Football Federation's sanctions against the clubs whose fans get involved in violent acts.

They also provide for equipping stadiums with new technological devices such as CCTV electronic gates to control crowd access and modernized ticketing system in order to strengthen security protocols.

The measures include upgrading the stadiums' infrastructures to improve the conditions of public access notably sanitary and entertainment facilities seats numbering and information.
