Jordan- ACC calls for economic aid from donor nations
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Feb. 3 (Petra) -- Chairman of Amman Chamber of Commerce ACC Issa Haider Murad on Wednesday called on states participating in the London's conference to support Jordan financially to help it face the massive burden arising from hosting the Syrian refugees.
He said "Jordan's friendship and partnership with donor nations should be turned from words into action" pointing that the Kingdom needs all friends to help it continue its humanitarian role towards the Syrian refugees.
With its meager resources Murad said Jordan faces economic woes as a result of hosting around 1.3 million Syrian refugees who placed additional burdens on the national economy with a limited international support that only covers 35 per cent of the amount spent by the government in this regard.
He also stressed the importance of trade liberalization between Jordan and the European Union and called for reviewing the terms of the European-Jordanian Partnership Agreement which was signed 15 years ago.
