Asia Markets Drop Sharply

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Asian stocks traded sharply lower on Wednesday as a steep drop in crude prices rekindled concerns that global growth is slowing.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 556.51 points, or 3.14%, from Tuesday to 17,194.17. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 47.29 points, or 3.26%, at 1,404.75.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index declined 3% in the morning, while China's Shanghai Composite slipped 1%.
