Birmingham posts USD9.3b in tourism earnings over 2015


(MENAFN) Tourists' numbers to British Birmingham in 2015 has set a new all-time high, which surpassed 38 million, making a record USD9.3 billion in tourism revenue from the city, based on reports.

The overwhelming figures reflected an increase of a whopping USD332 million as opposed to the previous year, plus it saw Birmingham's tourists grow at a faster rate than any other major British city.

Moreover, the city saw the completion of the major USD900 million redevelopment of the city's main New Street Railway Station this year and the opening of the Grand Central shopping destination.

"2015 marked an important milestone for Birmingham and the surrounding region. These record visitor figures are proof of the city's rapidly growing profile domestically and across the world," said a city's official.
