(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The Sudanese Navy recovered the body of one of the Egyptian fishermen who was aboard a fishing boat that sank in Sudanese territorial waters on Saturday.
A rescue launch team managed to retrieve the body on Tuesday from the Red Sea waters near Khor Nawarat. Previous search missions, a Sudanese aerial search and another inspection by the Egyptian Navy failed to find any of the 12 missing fishermen or the wreck of the boat.
The fishing vessel Zainat Al-Bahrain sunk near the Sudanese-Eritrean border Saturday while carrying 14 fishermen. Two fishermen were rescued on Saturday.
The body of the fisherman was transported to Port Sudan hospital, according to state news agency MENA. His identity is yet to be revealed.
The Sudanese authorities said search efforts will continue for the rest of the missing fishermen.
