About the Author: Juanita Gutierrez graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education with a major in English and a minor in Tagalog Pilipino from the University of the East Manila Philippines. She also holds a Master of Science in education with specialization in Reading Literacy from Fordham University in New York City. Miss Gutierrez taught for thirty-three years as a school paper adviser winning local and national journalism awards for her school and the paper; she was also elected president of the teachers association. In the New York City Schools Archdiocese of New York Miss Gutierrez won a grant for her students’ effectiveness and at the New York City Public Schools she received the Dorothy Stout Award. She was called Sister Juanita as a religious novice at a monastery in Virginia for three years and three months after which she became her ill mother’s primary caregiver. Miss Gutierrez enjoys writing reading gardening piano playing going to church and traveling the world.
