Qatar- First global arbitration forum on energy disputes begins tomorrow

Doha: Under the patronage of

H E Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada the first international arbitration conference on energy disputes begins tomorrow.

The aim of the conference is to promote arbitration as an effective and easy tool to resolve disputes.

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) - Qatar is organizing the conference in collaboration with the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration Qatar Chamber the International Court of Arbitration Squire Patton Boggs in Doha and Al Sulaiti Law Firm.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani Chairman of Qatar Chamber and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Executive Board member of the ICC said that the conference comes as a continuation of the ICC’s efforts to facilitate business in the State of Qatar.

He said the conference is a good opportunity to bring together experts and concerned parties to exchange their experiences ideas and visions towards settlement of disputes pointing out that the conference has found a big government support with participation of all local and international oil and gas companies local and international law offices and the most prominent stakeholders.

Secretary-General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration Andrea Carlevaris said the conference is a good initiative. Head of Al Sulaiti Law Firm Mubarak bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti said the energy sector is a basic and important sector and the legal framework ensures flow of energy without any obstacles and maximum efficiency.
