Kuwait eulogizes iconic media figure novelist Al Hzami


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Feb 1 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah mourned on Monday Slaiman Daoud Al-Hzami the reputed writer and media figure who passed away today at the age of 70.In his eulogy remarks to KUNA Sheikh Salman also Minister of State and Chairman of the National Council for Culture Arts and Literature said Al-Hzami "a foundation of the cultural and literary movement in the State of Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf" was former chairman of Kuwait Writers Association. He had also headed the Association cultural committee.He was also member of the Arabian Gulf Theater Group; a leading example among the Arab and Gulf literati and media personnel Minister Sheikh Salman remembered the deceased also noting Al-Hzami was chief editor of the Kuwaiti Al-Bayan magazine.Sheikh Salman has deeply regretted loss of Al-Hzami particularly at present where Kuwait is celebrating its designation as Capital of Islamic Culture (2016) coinciding with the 22nd session of Al-Qurain Cultural Festival. The late Al-Hzami had contributed to such celebrations holding dialogue sessions and seminars.Al-Hzami born in Sharq district in 1945 had studied music and the English language. He had served as supervisor of theatrical activities at the Ministry of Education and coordinator of the public arts colleges. He had composed and directed television drama programs in addition to writing directing and presenting radio literary cultural and poetic programs.The Ministry of Information had awarded him for his theatrical novel "yom al-tin" (the day of mud) in 1982.
