Kuwaiti Emir heads to UK for Syria Donors Conference 2016

KUWAIT 1st February 2016 (WAM) -- His Highness the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah left for the UK on Monday to head the Kuwaiti delegation and participate in the Syria Donors Conference 2016.

According to the Kuwait News Agency KUNA the conference seeks to increase funding to meet the needs of all those affected by the Syrian crisis within the country and support the neighbouring countries who have shown great generosity in hosting refugees to counter the effects of the crisis.

The Syria Donors Conference will also pave the way for a broader discussion about how the international community responds to protracted crises in advance of the UK UN and World Bank High-Level Forum on Forced Displacement in Protracted Crises later in 2016 and the World Humanitarian Summit being held in Istanbul in May.
