Death toll from Damascus blasts rises to 76 over 100 injured


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) The death toll from a series of terrorist attacks that rocked a suburb of the Syrian capital has risen to 76 people while 110 others were injured CCTV broadcaster reported Monday citing the Syrian Interior Ministry.

On Sunday three blasts occurred in the Sayyidah Zaynab suburb town near Damascus. A car bomb was remotely detonated followed by two suicide bombers who detonated explosive belts according to local media.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry said that it had sent a letter to the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General over the issue calling the Damascus attacks an attempt to disrupt the beginning of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva.

According to media reports the Daesh terrorist group which is outlawed in Russia and many other countries claimed responsibility for the attacks.
