UAE- Shelter for kids trafficked by family member mooted

A national panel discussed plans to provide alternative homes for child victims of human trafficking if the minor has been trafficked by a family member.

The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking (NCCHT) also reviewed developments related to the diploma course in human trafficking offered in cooperation with Dubai Police and the Dubai Judicial Institute.

Meanwhile addressing the 37th meeting of the NCCHT held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Dubai Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash Minister of State for Foreign Affairs said the UAE has become a global model in the fight against human trafficking.

Dr Gargash also Chairman of NCCHT hailed the efforts of the UAE in combating this global menace and said the UAE has launched leading rehabilitation initiatives and strengthened legislation to contain trafficking activities based on its commitment to ensure quality of life of every human being.

Dr Gargash and members of the committee commended the efforts of Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak Chairperson of the General Women's Union Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood for her contributions in humanitarian front.

"The humanitarian initiatives of Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak have helped change the lives of people at the local regional and international levels and represent the values of compassion and tolerance reflected in our religion and instilled in our culture by the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan" added Dr Gargash.
