(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The State of Qatar takes part in the conference entitled "Contemporary Functions of States from a Knowledge Economy Perspective", which will take place in the State of Kuwait during 1-2 February.
The Qatari delegation will be headed by the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS), HE Dr. Saleh Mohamed Al-Nabit.
The conference aims to highlight the most distinctive contemporary administrative and economic functions from the perspective of knowledge economy, to develop the concept of developmental plan consistent with this perspective , and to help build a knowledge environment conducive to the transition to the knowledge economy.
The two-day conference includes 6 sessions in order to raise awareness among society and public and educational institutions on the importance of adopting the concept of knowledge economy , as well as methods leading to the transition to the concept of the knowledge economy in order to develop policies in order to diversify income sources, increase job opportunities, and reduce the burden on states' budgets.
The conference will be attended by top level international experts in the fields of knowledge economy, innovation and economic development so as to provide intellectual environment that promotes the objectives of the conference, namely, to develop the perceptions on ways to diversify sources of income, to improve the business environment, to develop education system, to take advantage of the country's development and to optimize the concept of knowledge.
It is noteworthy that the National Conference "Contemporary Functions of States from a Knowledge Economy Perspective" is to be organized by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development in the State of Kuwait, in cooperation with the Arab Planning Institute, the World Bank , and the United Nations Development Programme.
