Doha: Ministry of Municipality and Environment has completed a comprehensive study about re-developing the current central market Al Sharq reported.

They have decided to shift the livestock market from the current location and also build modern abattoirs at different location for the benefit of people.

As the number of residence around the market has grown in the recent time there were many concerns among people staying nearby about the odour from the sheep market. A health centre is also located opposite the market.

Many people questioned the idea of having a livestock market in the heart of Doha when the city is going through major urban developments.

The presence of such a market close to residential area violates health and environmental standards the report said.
