Oman- MoCI issued 21 fuel station licences in 2015

TheMinistry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) announced on Sunday that there were 542 licensed commercial fuel stations in the sultanate -operated by Oman Oil Marketing Co Shell Oman Marketing and Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing - at the end of last year.

This was up 21 from 521 stations in 2014.

The Muscat and Batinah North governorates topped the list in terms of the number of fuel stations with 130 and 91 respectively. Dhakhiliyah had 57 stations Dhofar 56 Batinah South 46 Sharqiyah South 39 Sharqiyah North 36 Dhahirah 29 Al Wusta 29 and Buraimi 19 while Musandam had ten stations.

This is an indicator of the economic development witnessed in all the governorates an MoCI press release said.

The temporary licenses for fuel stations under implementation in all the governorates of the Sultanate in 2015 totalled 29 while MoCI issued the same number of forms pending approval of the relevant authorities during the same year.

Of the 21 licences issued in 2015 seven were in Muscat three each in Dhofar and Dhakhiliyah two in Batinah North two in Al Wusta and one each in Batinah South Sharqiyah North Sharqiyah South and Dhahirah.

According to the MoCI 18 fuel stations are under construction. Of these twelve are owned by Omanoil four by Al Maha and two by Shell.
