US Stocks End Sharply Higher


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) U.S. stocks closed sharply higher on Friday, booking a second straight weekly gain but posting the worst January performance since 2009.

The S&P 500 SPX, +2.48% closed up 46.88 points, or 2.5%, at 1,940.24, with all 10 of its main sectors in positive territory, led by tech and materials.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +2.47% gained 396.66 points, or 2.5%, to end at 16,466.30. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +2.38% gained 107.28 points, or 2.4%, at 4,613.95.
