The Met office has said that the cold wave sweeping across Oman will last for another two days. An official in the Met office said that this will result in drop in temperature during day time.

'The cold wave has intensified over the last two days. It is mainly due to the strong northwesterly winds that have swept across the region since last week.'

The official said that some parts of the sultanate also saw a sandstorm during the weekend. 'Wind speeds have ranged from 65 to 70kmph leading to reduced visibility in several parts of the country' he added.

He said that the cold wave has spread across all GCC countries. 'Apart from Oman temperatures in other GCC countries will fall over the next two weeks.

The minimum temperatures in GCC countries are likely to hover between 10C and 15C. Saudi Arabia is facing the brunt of this cold wave which is affecting other Gulf countries too.'
