Turkey arrests some 1000 IS suspects in '15- statement

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA Jan 30 (KUNA) -- Turkey announced Saturday it made more than 1000 arrests of people suspected of belonging to the so-called Islamic State (IS) since early 2015.Anti-terror forces arrested 643 while attempting to crossover Turkish borders from Syria while another 496 were arrested attempting to go the other way an army general staff statement noted.This is a 90-percent rise during the last five months of 2015 compared to earlier in the same year the statement pointed out.Ankara was a scene of two IS-claimed suice attacks last October which killed 103 people.
