More than 5000 refugees in Lebanon receive winter aid from UAE charity

BEIRUT 29th January 2016 (WAM) --- Some 5030 refugees received blankets and winter clothes donated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Establishment in the first phase of the UAE's humanitarian response to Syrian refugees for winter 2016 in Lebanon.

Winter aid worth AED2.5 million was dispersed for 500 refugee families in Tripoli and 506 in Akkar district northern Lebanon when the effort was launched on Wednesday.

A total of 14400 beneficiary families will receive 44000 blankets and 50000 pieces of clothes in the 18-day aid drive through the Relief and Humanitarian Aid Organisation of Lebanon's Dar Al-Fatwa.

The office of the attache for humanitarian and development affairs at the UAE Embassy in Beirut is overseeing the effort.

Saleh Al Mazrouie Director-General of the bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Establishment which is part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives foundation attended the distribution of aid in both areas.
