Morocco s Legislative Elections to be Held on October 7


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco will hold its forthcoming legislative elections on October 7 Communication Minister Government Spokesman Mustafa El Khalfi announced Thursday.

The electoral campaign will start on September 24 2016 and end on October 6 2016 El Khalfi pointed out at a press briefing following the weekly cabinet meeting.

The first legislative elections after the adoption of 2011 Constitution were held on November 25 2011.

The Party of Justice and Development (PJD) won the elections and his Secretary General Abdelilah Benkirane was tasked by King Mohammed VI to form a coalition government.

The PJD won 107 seats in the 395-seat House of Representatives. It was the first time in Morocco's history that a political party won more than a quarter of seats in parliament.
