Qatar- China US Call for UN Resolution against N. Korea

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Beijing January 28 (QNA) - China and the US called for a new UN resolution against North Korea following Pyongyang's claim that it had successfully tested a hydrogen bomb earlier this month.

During his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Wednesday the US Secretary of State John Kerry said that both sides agreed on the need for a "strong" resolution against North Korea and said that limiting the trade of goods and services across China's border with North Korea was one potential measure according to BBC.

However Wang said that while China supported the need for a new resolution it "should not provoke new tension in the situation still less destabilise the Korean peninsula".

John Kerry during his meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping Wednesday warned that if China failed to curb more sanctions against North Korea's enhanced nuclear capacity Washington would take moves that China has strongly opposed including deploying defense systems to protect US allies in Asia.
