OIC hopes for solution to Syrian crisis from Geneva III


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH Jan 28 (KUNA) -- The Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hoped that the upcoming Geneva III talks scheduled for Friday would come out with a solution for the Syrian crisis.A statement by the OIC said that the Geneva III talks would hopefully focus on an agreement to a ceasefire in Syria an essential step to launch initial talks for political reconciliation and a peaceful transfer of power there.The OIC continues to support resolutions which came out from the previous Geneva meetings on Syria and other international gatherings said the Organization's Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani adding that further proposals to bring a just solution to the Syria crisis should be supported by all involved parties.The UNSC issued on December 18th 2015 resolution 2254 which called for the start of peace talks in Syria under UN and international groups supervision. The resolution called for an immediate ceasefire in Syria to enable peace to prevail. (end) nh.gta
