Hungary's foreign investments hit USD70b in 2015


Foreign ownership of and investment in Hungarian firms are widespread, and it expanded substantially over 2015 to see the cumulative foreign direct investment hit a total of USD70 billion.

Hungary's main industries which are mining, metallurgy, construction materials, processed foods, textiles and chemicals helped attract more investment ventures throughout the entire year.

The nation has seen a shift from lower-value textile and food industry to investment in luxury vehicle production, renewable energy systems, high-end tourism, and information technology.

Furthermore, The economy of the land-locked country is a medium-sized, high-income, structurally, politically and institutionally open economy, which is part of the European Union's (EU) single market.
