Growing ambassador programme helps position Dubai as knowledge hub

DUBAI 26th January 2016 (WAM) -- Dubai Business Events DBE Dubai's official convention bureau has hosted it's Al Safeer Congress Ambassador annual networking event that brings together prominent doctors scientists businessmen and government officials from across the Emirate to discuss best practices and pay tribute to ongoing efforts in positioning Dubai as a global hub for knowledge exchange.

Held today at the newly opened St. Regis Hotel Dubai the event opened up the conversation on how continued innovation throughout the city creates an environment where meetings and conferences can flourish now that the industry is aware of Dubai's great offering of accessibility and infrastructure in addition to safety and security. Accordingly DBE reflected on a year of success and growth for the events industry demonstrating the significant role the Al Safeer Programme plays in attracting global players and bringing international conferences to Dubai.

DBE also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of its Al Safeer Ambassadors honouring outstanding performance of high-profile individuals and organisations that helped secure a record number of business events and top conferences including the 13th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands the World Congress of Neurology and the International Conference on Emergency Medicine that will take place in Dubai over the coming years.

Hamad bin Mejren Senior Vice President Dubai Events and Convention Bureau a Division of Dubai Tourism said "The Al Safeer Ambassador Programme embodies so much of what we at DBE want the world to see. There is a wealth of knowledge in Dubai and it's manifested in these individuals. We have seen great results from the programme and are confident that it will help us continue position Dubai as a premier destination for international business events."

The Al Safeer Congress Ambassadors Programme was established in 2010 and aims to engage Dubai-based scientists business professionals and organisations who are connected with international institutions and associations to work with DBE to bring meetings and conferences to Dubai.

The programme currently has over 280 prominent members from diverse fields and sectors including academia finance and healthcare. In 2015 alone the programme recruited 189 new ambassadors and assisted with 37 business event bids. Throughout the course of 2016 DBE plans to host additional Al Safeer Ambassador Workshops bringing together ambassadors to discuss best practices in attracting and organizing business events in Dubai.
