(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Jan. 26 (Petra) -- The cold spell which brought significant amounts of rain and snow across the Kingdom over the past two days will start to taper off as of Tuesday night but very biting cold will prevail in most parts of the Kingdom.
On Tuesday and Wednesday periods of rain and snow-drizzle are forecast during the day especially in areas 800 meters above sea level with frost formation across the country and northwesterly moderate winds the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.
As for Thursday downpours will taper off but it will remain extremely cold with fog and frost formation across the Kingdom including the Jordan Valley with easterly light winds .
Temperatures expected in the capital for today will reach a high of 3 degrees Celsius slipping down to one degree below zero in the northern and central regions they will drop well 2 degrees below zero while mercury levels in the Gulf of Aqaba will hit 14 degrees during daytime and 6 degrees at night.
