(MENAFN- Arab Times) The flag-raising day is one of the most glorious of nations around the globe for its great national meanings, Governor of the Capital retired Lieut- General Thabit Al-Muhanna has said. Al-Muhanna made the statement on Monday during the Capital's flag-raising ceremony, marking start of celebrations of the 10th Anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's assumption to power, the 55th Anniversary of National Day and the 25th Anniversary of Liberation Day.
This is an opportunity to manifest love to, and pride of Kuwait and His Highness the Amir, he added. Similar ceremonies were held in the country's other five governorates. In Al-Ahamdi, Governor Sheikh Fawaz Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, said the celebrations are a source of pride for all Kuwaitis and expats. He renewed the oath to His Highness the Amir to serve the country and the people. Flag-raising enhances national unity and the spirit of belonging and loyalty to the country, Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer retired General Ahmad Abdullatif Al-Rujaib said in a press statement.
He stressed the momentousness of further boosting unity among Kuwaitis for more security, safety and stability in the country. These celebrations mark significant points in the history of Kuwait, Hawally Governor retired General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Sabah told the governorate ceremony. He added that Kuwait's independence was the beginning of building a modern state.
In Al-Jahra, Governor retired Lieutenant-General Fahad Ahmad Fahad Al-Amir, reiterated the importance of national unity for protecting the society and its gains, and realizing progress. He reviewed some of the future projects planned for Al-Jahra, urging seriousness and hard work to achieve them. Flag-raising is the best expression of pleasure over the 10th Anniversary of His Highness the Amir assumption of power, Farwaniyah Governor Sheikh Faisal Al-Humoud Al-Malek Al-Sabah, said in a press statement. The Farwaniyah's ceremony included a gallery for the province's students, who also offered a show.
Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said on Monday His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah could magnificently fortify Kuwait and establish its political immunity amid regional dramatic volatility over the past 10 years. "The past 10 years were not so easy at all in view of fluctuating regional developments and growing political and security tensions in the region. Kuwait was so lucky to have had a highly experienced and wise skipper," Al-Ghanim said in a press statement marking the 10th Anniversary of His Highness the Amir's assumption of power.
"The success of His Highness the Amir in leading the ship of Kuwait amid such crashing waves was not an easy task, but thanks to His Highness the Amir's stock of experience, wisdom and statesmanship accumulated throughout years was so sufficient to drive Kuwait to safety," he added.
The Speaker highly commended the way His Highness followed to address the reflections of the global financial crisis, the Al-Imam Al-Sadeq mosque explosion, the terrorist cell as well as other political and security problems. He went on to say that thanks to His Highness the Amir's farsightedness and political wisdom, His Highness the Amir managed to respond to such challenges in a magnificent manner. The Speaker also appreciated His Highness the Amir's dedication by acting as a regional facilitator and adopting humanitarian initiatives, especially regarding the Syrian crisis, citing the UN naming of His Highness the Amir as "Humanitarian Leader" as a clear-cut example in this regard.
