Turkish airlines logs 66pct climb in net profit over H2


(MENAFN) Turkish Airlines amplified its net profits by 66 percent in the June-Dec period from the same period of 2014, to USD232 million, therefore its gross profit increased to USD364 million in the 2nd half of 2015.

The company also increased its sales revenue by 11.5 percent to USD2.4 billion in the 4th quarter compared to last year, thus growing by 9 percent to USD4.3 billion in the 2nd half as opposed to the same period of the previous year.

The company said it expected higher demand in 2016's 1st quarter due to lifting Iran's sanctions, in its assessments over the year-end budget, plus it forecasted some relief in pressure over the lira, which will help the firm further more.

Furthermore, during the mentioned timeframe, the total passengers carried by Turkish Airlines improved by 10.7 percent, reaching 34.4 million passengers, compared to 31 million passengers for the same period of 2014.
