Egyptian FM denies Cairo's military intervention in Libya


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ABU DHABI Jan 25 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has denied his country's military intervention in Libya reiterating support for the relevant UN resolution over Libya.Shoukry made his remarks to reporters Monday on the sidelines of the Arab foreign ministers' meetings in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi adding that Egypt's backs the UN plan which aims at achieving national unity and bringing viewpoints of conflicting parties closer.Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi has reiterated his country's support for Libya's new government on December 26 2015 so that it would "carry out its mandate and serve the interests of the Libyan people." "It is imperative that we support and preserve Libya's chief institutions namely the military and police for they are mainly responsible for maintaining peace and stifling terrorism" Al-Sisi said.
