Kuwait's trade surplus with Japan narrows 37.5 percent

(MENAFN) Kuwait's trade surplus with Japan narrowed 37.5 percent from a year earlier to USD 442mn in Dec, decreasing for the seventh month as exports declined.

Additionally, Kuwaiti whole exports to Japan plunged 29.1 percent yearly to USD 639mn for the 7th straight monthly fall, while imports from Japan increased 1.7 percent to USD 197mn.

Middle East's trade surplus with Japan also shrank 55.7 percent to USD 3.4bn last month, with Japan-bound exports from the area decreasing 24.7 percent from a year earlier.

However, Japan's global trade balance dropped in Dec despite sluggish exports, as cheaper crude oil and other fuel prices cut imports costs.
