Director General of Arab Labor Organization Hails Qatar's Efforts


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha January 25 (QNA) - Director-General of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO) Fayez Ali Al Mutairi has hailed the efforts of the State of Qatar in promoting and ensuring the rights of workers through laws and decisions that are being applied.
He praised the close cooperation between the organization and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Al Mutairi said on the occasion of the conclusion of the training course for labor and health inspectors that Qatar is exerting unremitting efforts to promote and ensure the rights of workers through the amendments made to the Labor Law No. 14 for 2004 and the relevant ministerial decisions adding that the Wage Protection System (WPS) which was issued by the Law No. 1 of 2015 is the best evidence of that.
He also praised the great efforts made by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the State of Qatar in the field of labour inspection underlying the increase in the number of inspectors to reach 350 inspectors.
Regarding the training course for labor and health inspectors which was held in Doha this month Al Mutairi stressed the importance of such courses to activate the role of labor inspection systems and improve their performance.
The Director General of the Arab Labor Organization also underlined the close cooperation between the Arab Labour Organization and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in the State of Qatar saying that the Organization is always keen to cooperate with the Ministry in the framework of meeting the needs of production parties in all Arab countries in order to achieve the organization's goals to improve the terms and conditions of work environment by all means and possibilities.
He added that the relevant functional departments in the organisation and its institutions provide necessary technical assist and training for the Arab States in various labour areas.
In response to a question about development plans of the Arab Labor Organization performance to keep pace with the regional and international developments in the field of labour especially in light of the current economic challenges in the region Al Mutairi said that the challenges facing the organization have never been less than the challenges facing the entire Arab region adding that the organization is working hard to always remain a free platform for dialogue between the production parties in the Arab countries.
