Omanaya supercar challenge begins

The Super Cars Club Arabia Challenge began in Muscat the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has announced.

A ceremony to inaugurate the tour was held under the auspices of H H Sayyid Mohammed bin Thuwaini bin Shihab al Said at Shangri-La's Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa on Saturday the release stated.

Organised by the Super Cars Club Arabia the Omanaya tour is a highly anticipated event that gathers the region's premiere exotic automobile enthusiasts in an exciting circuit. This time the circuit extends from Oman to the UAE a press release said.

Organisers said that most of the 1200km driving will take place in Oman. From Muscat the drivers will pass through places like Sur and Nizwa before crossing the UAE border and heading to Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

The Omanaya tour will conclude in Dubai. A lead car and a follow car tasked with monitoring the accepted speed limit manage the drivers.

Omanaya was organised following the overwhelming response Super Cars Club Arabia received for its Eurabia tour which was held in August 2015 to several European countries including the UK France Belgium Germany Italy Switzerland and Monaco.

The press release stated that MoT is eager to promote such events as they highlight the country's strong infrastructure as well as many notable natural and cultural attractions.
