Oman's riders make it to Tent Pegging World Cup

Oman's riders qualified for the second Tent Pegging World Cup after finishing runner-up in the qualifiers that concluded in Khartoum Sudan on Saturday. Eight teams - Oman Yemen Russia Jordan Pakistan Qatar the US and hosts Sudan - competed in the event that was held from January 19-23.

The second World Cup will be held in Cairo Egypt in April.

In the final round on Saturday Oman's Ali al Balushi and Safwan al Mamari claimed a silver while another bronze by Balushi helped Oman garner enough points to finish overall third and book a spot in the World Cup.

The top four teams qualified for Cairo.

Sudan topped the overall standings with a score of 748.5 and was followed by Jordan with 687. Oman had 683.5 while Yemen collected 667 to come fourth.
