Qatar, Japan cruise into Asian Handball Championship semi final

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA Jan 24 (KUNA) -- Qatar and Japan have cruised into the semi-final of the 17th Asian Handball Championship after beating South Korea and Syria respectively Qatar came first with eight points after beating South Korea 38-23 Japan won the second place with six points when they defeated Syria 24-15 while South Korea came third with four points.Qatar will meet Saudi Arabia next Tuesday while the second match will be held between Bahrain and Japan.The tourney has two groups; the first includes Qatar Japan South Korea Oman and Syria while the second features Bahrain Lebanon China Saudi Arabia UAE and Iran.The first four teams in addition to Qatar will qualify for the world handball championship to be held in France next year.
