Qatar- QC hosts workshop for Yemen forum

DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) and 12 other humanitarian organisations have hosted a workshop in preparation for the Conference of Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen: Challenges and Prospects of the Humanitarian Response.

It was attended by Yemen’s Minister of Local Administration and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief Abdul-Raqib Saif Fath.

The initiative committee included the Higher Committee for Relief Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arab League United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (Saudi Arabia) International Committee of the Red Cross (Switzerland) Qatar Charity Society International Humanitarian City (UAE) International Medical Corps (US) International Islamic Charitable Organisation (Kuwait) Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH Turkey) Start Network (Britain) and International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA Switzerland).

The initiators met for consultation coordination and cooperation to cope with the deteriorating situation of the Yemenis and their increasing suffering.

Fath spoke about the great humanitarian efforts QC has exerted to alleviate the suffering of the affected Yemenis due to the recent escalation of the crisis in their country.

He discussed the humanitarian circumstances in Yemen and clarified the procedures that are followed in dealing with the situation.

“QC is considered to be one of the most active humanitarian organisations in Yemen. With continuous increase in the numbers of the injured in Yemen QC’s support to the health sector is spectacular. The sector requires bigger operating theatres and more ambulances” said Fath.

The conference seeks to unite the visions of the active partners in assisting the Yemenis. It aspires to set the floor for exchange of information and reinforcement of applied procedures related to identifying the Yemenis’ needs according to their type and geographical distribution. It is also to help develop work plans and joint initiatives.

Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghamdi CEO International Development QC said QC has proven its commitment to offering humanitarian and relief aids to the Yemenis.

“QC has not spared any effort to alleviate the suffering of the Yemenis and provide all necessary means and supplies for a better life.”
