Jordanian forces kill 12 trying to sneak across the border

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN Jan 23 (KUNA) -- Jordanian Army troops stationed along the border with Syria on Saturday shot dead 12 persons who attempted to infiltrate illegally into the country the official news agency Petra reported.A number of others were wounded in the botched bid to cross the borders Petra said citing military officials adding that the whole group of would-be infiltrators comprised 36 individuals.Some of these men carried arms and suspicious materials it said adding that more than one million narcotic pills were found in possession of some of these individuals adding that the narcotics were confiscated.The Jordanian-Syrian border line stretches for 350 kilometers.Jordan hosts a large number of Syrian refugees encamped in areas close to the borders.
