Kuwait- Parliament speaker leaves Beirut


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT Jan 23 (KUNA) -- President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) and Speaker of Kuwait's National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim has left Beirut heading to Baghdad to attend Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) meetings due on Sunday.During his stay in Beirut the speaker who was seen off by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Lebanon Abdulaal Al-Qenaei visited the AIPU headquarters and met Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri.In pre-departure statements Al-Ghanim said he had held talks with Berri about ongoing efforts by Lebanese authorities to find and release a Kuwaiti citizen kidnapped in Lebanon.He added that his visit had focused on the following-up of the activities of the Beirut-based Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU).During his stay in Baghdad the Kuwaiti speaker will lead his country's delegation partaking in Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) meetings due tomorrow.
