Six killed in Egypt bombing via joTurkishWeekly

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) At least six people were killed in a bomb blast in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Thursday the Interior Ministry said.

In a statement the ministry said the blast took place when security forces raided an apartment housing alleged members of the Muslim Brotherhood group in al-Haram street.

"Six people were killed including three police personnel" the ministry said.

At least 13 people were also injured in the blast the ministry said adding that the apartment was being used to manufacture explosive devices.

The bombing came just days before the fifth anniversary of a popular revolution that ousted long-term autocrat President Hosni Mubarak.

Egyptian authorities accuse the Muslim Brotherhood of carrying out a series of attacks since the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi in a 2013 military coup.

The Brotherhood denies the allegations insisting that it follows peaceful forms of activism.

In late 2013 the Egyptian government banned the Brotherhood and designated it a "terrorist organization."
