Zanzibar grateful for Kuwait educational support- Zanzibari Vice Pres.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Jan 21 (KUNA) -- Zanzibar is very grateful for Kuwait's support towards the country's educational system said Zanzibari second Vice President Seif Ali Iddi Thursday.Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 15th batch of students at the Sumait University named after late Kuwaiti philanthropist Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sumait Vice President Iddi said that Kuwait had always been on the forefront of helping other nations to develop stressing that the seeds planted by Dr. Al-Sumait some 18 years ago had flourished in the form of this university.He said that Dr. Al-Sumait believed that education was crucial component for development adding that the Sumait University established in 1998 by Direct Aid- Africa Muslims Agency (AMA) was one of the most important institutions in the country.In a statement by the Kuwaiti embassy in Tanzania Ambassador Jassem Al-Najem lauded the humanitarian efforts by the late Dr. Al-Sumait saying that the current ceremony celebrating the graduation of some 686 students from the university was evident that good deeds carry on beyond anyone's lifespan.Meanwhile Chairman of the board and head of AMA Abdulrahman Al-Mulaihan said that the Sumait university have 1300 registered students in the meantime adding that there are plans to open more departments and colleges in the near future.Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania in East Africa.
